The Biltmore Winery, North Carolina, USA
(The Biltmore Company)
Design and implementation of all external works for a new visitor winery within the Frederick Law Olmstead designed landscape of Biltmore House – a Vanderbilt property.
Project included a wine tasting courtyard and terrace, a grass amphitheatre, car, coach and RV parks.
All plant material was derived from Olmstead recorded plantings, whilst special brick paving, walling, timber pergolas, gazebos and trellis were designed to reflect Olmstead’s original detailing used elsewhere on the estate.
The project won an Institute of American Architects Design Award.
